Become a Gatekeeper for Suicide Prevention!
Details
The goal of the program is to train student gatekeepers to identify peers who may be at risk for suicide and help them access appropriate support, with the goal to reduce suicide rates among college students.
The training includes data and discussions on such things as prevalence of suicidal ideation in college students, common myths, risk factors and immediate warning signs. Following this, students will learn how to conduct suicide risk assessments on their peers. They will be taught appropriate actions to take based on the outcome of the risk assessment administered. Students will role play with their peers in order to gain experience in conducting the assessments.
The training is free and 90 minutes in length. Following completion of the course, students will receive a Suicide Gatekeeper Training Certificate.
