CITI CERTIFICATION

  • What is a CITI Certification?

CITI, or the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative, is an organization that provides educational materials and certification courses for clinical research.

For BARC, we specifically take the certification course, "Social and Behavioral Responsible Conduct of Research", for student researchers who utilize social and behavioral theories as a groundwork for clinical trials on human subjects. The course touches on research concepts, including ethics, proper conduct, laws regarding research, authorship, and key social/behavioral research principles.

  • Why do we need to be CITI Certified?

The certification legally permits you to take part in conducting social and behavioral research as a student researcher in the U.S and on campus.

    Benefits Include:

    • Receiving credit for your work and having your name on the research product/results.
    • Knowledge on research terminology and concepts that are discussed in meetings.
    • Knowledge of rules and regulations that protect researchers and participants.
    • How to professionally conduct oneself during trials.
    • Looks great on application!
